Mahogany Run 16M

About

about

St. Thomas has been my home for thirteen years... longer than I've lived anywhere in my adult life.  The siren song of St. Thomas struck thirty-three years ago when I joined three friends on a bareboat charter.  Never had I dreamed of such beauty!  Many years later I was able to make it my home.

A Mahogany Run condo was definitely the right choice for me.  The downisland views, tranquility, and security have been welcome every single day.  From my condo I can see from the tip of Peterborg peninsula to Cruz Bay on St. John.  There are more than 20 islands and cays in the view.  You'll never want to leave the house for fear of missing a spectacular sunrise, sunset, storm or ship.  (Don't worry though, there are new and exciting vistas every day.)

I'd always wanted to build or remodel a home and this condo provided the perfect canvas.  I set about the task with gusto, having the unit completely gutted before joyfully rebuilding it myself.  Other than the flooring and some of the major electrical work, I did everything myself, including designing and building the cabinetry from scratch.  What an adventure!  For my first year in this unit my only furniture was a twin bed and an old patio table with two chairs.  Piles of lumber, plywood, and supplies were everywhere.  The living room housed a 10' panel saw...oh how I missed it when it was sold!

Life has a way of changing and for me this means returning to the States.  I will miss my island friends and sincerely hope the buyer of my condo will love it as much as I do.

In September 2017 the Virgin Islands were hit by back-to-back category 5 hurricanes.  Like much of the island, Mahogany Run sustained considerable damage.  Fortunately, building 16 sustained only minor damage.

Inspection of the entire Mahogany Run Condo Association property suggested a need to reinforce roof attachments.  Building 16 is currently scaffolded while this extensive improvement takes place.   Eventually all of the MRCA buildings will undergo this reinforcement.  Building 16 is fortunate to be one of the first to have this work done.  The project should be finished within a few months.

The remaining repairs needed for 16M are low priority for the association but will eventually be done and covered by the HOA dues and fees.
